Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re:

Hello

There seems to be alot of WF Holdsworth knowledge in this thread so I thought I would post picture of mine to see if anybody could help me with the model and age .
I got it a few years ago and built it with stuff I had kicking about , not period correct at all, I would be cool to know if it is a cyclone from the 1940/1950 period as I've always thought or something else . I will post some better pictures shortly . Thanks in advance George

Its difficult to pace this with only 9 pre-war numbers found to date, All I would say is that number is very low. There is a 1939 frame 6015 with a VCC dating and it is generally assumed the 5 digit numbers started in 1964 around 6000 ish. With frames 1, 2 & 3 around 1930, this too has to be early thirties I would have thought. Have your heard back from VCC?

That 6015 from 1939 is mine too, it's the one above actually.
Have not heard from him yet, usually he's quite quick, might be on holiday.

Small world!

Its changed a bit since the picture I have of it so will update/add this one too.

I am no expert on modles, but there are plenty who can. as to age I would need to know frame number or check out my cloud site.

Hi,
I've just taken ownership of number 32019. With chrome sloping crown forks and chrome stay ends, Campag ends, wrap over seat stay, I presume it's a 1968 Super Mistral. There's some original paint on it plus a lot of bad overpaint which is a shame. What I find a puzzle is that it's small - 19.5 inches centre to top and I've not found any mention of so small in the on-line catalogues. Anyway something for me to look forward to spending some time getting back on the road. I haven't yet figured out how to load photos here.

Yes would be nice to see some pictures, you have to go to bottom of page, make sure your in full editor and look for the Choose File button, then find the photo on your comp, Add the file and then go to the thread you are typing and place in line.

Yes from the number I would hake this second half of 1968, did you have any reason for this date?

The frame number 12861 which suggests 1950.

I can't match any of the frames in the catalogue , possibly mine was customer specified. Are there any particular features to look out for ?

Re 32019. No, only reason for the date was from referring to the table earlier in this thread. Here some photos from which hopefully you'll be able to confirm the model. It's taken ages for me to find one this size, are they that unusual?

I am sure someone can ID this for you, but look at the head lugs particularly. you might want to add some close ups of the main lugs. The Cyclone changed a lot over the years as it was the longest running model. it does look like 1950 from the number and we do have a lot of good numbers for 1950 so that is fairly good prediction, but I always say a year or so either way is possible.

Re:

Purely from what I can see, with sloping crown and 5/8 wrapover I would place this early 1970s, looks like a Holdsworthy. 5/8 stays and wrapover, long point "Italian" style lugs started around 1960.
