Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Sorry, I'm away and don't have that pic on the computer, but it was on bottom of the crank tube, I think across-wise similar to the other photo. Do you mean on the CB history site - is there a link?

the link is http://www.nkilgariff.com/ I have attached a typical 6 Digit number in its more usual location on the drive side BB. This happens to be at CB Majestic.

I can't find a close-up of the Majestic lugs - but if it were a Majestic frame could it be the case it was made in '84, stored in primer, ordered in '85 by Greg of Bike UK, painted silver then (I ordered the colour) and shipped to the Bike UK place off the Strand to be assembled by Greg's two mechanics? Or am I making it too complicated? I assume it would be a Holdsworthy frame in '84?

Yes, that's mid 84 according to prediction so not unreasonable to take some time to get sold via your route. Also prediction may not be 100% anyway. I have attached some pictures of lugs on what is listed as Majestic. You can find more if you look up the database on the history site.

Would that suggest my frame is 531CS rather than plain 531 - the '85 catalogue Majestic pic looks silvery as well...incidentally mine has the GB forged stem and their handlebars, had the same pump, and SR chainset

Sorry, the '84 frame was quoted as 531 not the CS variant. The Eclipse also had Weinmann centre pull but it had Wolber rims with Campag hubs that got special mention in the Bicycle Buyer's Bible of the time...The 84 Majestic is quoted at £245 and the Eclipse was £280 (I added a Brooks B17).

Looking to pinpoint the date of my Roy Thame with serial number 31281. I think it's a late 70s or even as late as 1981, as it came as a bike with Campy NR cranks with 81 date code and NR brakes. Sure these could have been added after. I actually thought 1981 might be a bit late as the frame has 124mm rear spacing and fits standard reach nutted brakes, and has 1010A dropouts, but does have the later campy braze-ons e.g. shifter bosses and cable guides. Anyway I'm none the wiser on Putney shop numbering post 1975. Any advice would be appreciated.
