Holdsworth Cronometro Ultralight now finished with pics

Re: Holdsworth Cronometro Ultralight

Looking Good :)

Just out of curiosity what's the quality like for the alloy stem bolt for the Cinelli stem, Way back when we had SABA copies in titanium for the stem bolt and the SR Super Extra Light with Titanium fittings but at the end of the 70's the alloy stem bolts were "untested" as they say :)

Cheers

Re:

Midlife, the durability of the Cinelli alloy stem bolt is an unknown to me, all I know is the stem is fitted using the steel bolt, then removed and replaced with the alloy bolt.

Whoops forgot the brakes, nothing special as stopping was never the priority of the tester, so the obligatory Weimann 500 have been fitted, these are much lighter (levers 154g and callipers 242g) than the Suntour Superbe set I had thought of fitting and they would have been an extra 152g.

The Christophe Alloy toe clips (23g) arrived today, they are indeed lighter than the Ale alloy clips (30g), so I have fitted them.

Here is the finished result, not as pretty as some of my other builds, but it has been made for a purpose.

The object was to build a sub 18 lbs bike and with the use of a light chain I have managed to get under 8kgs. The curious may have been adding up the weight and I am pleased to have a bike that weighs in at 7933g or 17.48lbs. Here is the list of actual weights.

Frame: Holdsworth Cronometro Ultralight 1838g
Forks: Forks 737g
Headset: Tange Levin Alloy 110g

Bottom bracket: Campagnolo Record 257g
chainset: Campagnolo Record Pista 54T inc bolts 544g

Front Skewer: Roval 61g
rear wheel: Suntour suberbe/mavic CX18/aero spokes 769g
Rear Skewer: FT 61g
Tubs: Clement Clementex 335g
Block: Suntour alpha 5 speed 288g
tub tape: Tub tape 10g

Seatpost: SR Super U/L 216g
Saddle: Saba Record 234g

Bars: 3TTT 300g
Stem: SR Super U/L 187g
Tape & plugs: Cotton/corks 30g
Brake levers: Weimann 500 154g
Brakes: Weimann 500 242g
Cables Fnt: fnt inner/outer 38g
Cables rear: rear inner/outer 72g
brake bolts: brake mounting bolts 8g

Rear Mech: Huret Jubille 150g
Gear lever: Campag drilled 20g

If I take the pedals off, the weight falls to 7.62kg, no bad for an old steel bike from the 1970’s.

Re:

not bad
below 8kg - congratulations

wonder what's the weight if you add a front mech and a 42 chainring :?:

That's absolutely brilliant.........pitch up at the 'Boro course in the late 70's and prepare to get out into the A1 traffic :)

Thanks for the info about using a steel bolt to tighten the expander on the Cinelli stem and swap to an alloy one, rings a bell :)

Very nice looking build Sir :) & still think a 57 ring would look better along with the chain being lengthened a little to give it a more aggressive look.
