Holdsworth Championship

Retro Newbie
Hi,I have a Holdsworth Championship which I bought in 1979. It hasn't done a huge amount of miles but is showing its age now. Bike still has original wheels, frame, bars, stems etc. Only non original parts are rear cassette and pedals. I'll attach some pics. Any advice on whether it is worth restoring would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re:

Thanks, I've seen that link. Was just wondering whether getting it restored was a waste of money or not as I dont ride it much now.I've kept it for sentimental reasons. Or should I try to sell it as it is?

I'd keep it, looks in fab nick :) wouldn't need a "restoration" as such judging by the pictures just making sure things are working and oiled/ greased.

I am finding it difficult to see what needs restoring. It looks fine and just needs a simple clean and maybe service the bearings. Please do not follow the current mania of repainting bikes that do not need it. You will do much better to keep it original even if it has a few marks.

Agreed, All I see is a bike that needs a bit of a polish and a service. Lovely machine and had mine been in that condition and not painted green I wouldn't have bothered restoring it either.

I agree with everyone else that there's no pressing need for any restoration, as this is in fine condition. If you are intent on selling it, then you are better off leaving it as it is - just give it a good clean. There is a lot of affection for Holdsworth, and a premium on originality. There's a facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/314794628980037 with a sales section.
