'History of XTR' film on Youtube

So other than a few b list racers from the era saying how cool it was to ride a bike equipped with kit that they were paid to use (and in one case, still paid to use), there really was nothing about the history of XTR.

I can only assume that it's going to be a poor 6 part advert for the new group - high on production and marketing, low on interest (a bit like shimano themselves really....)

yes but its the best gear to ride with, is it not?? i mean ....it's the best gear to ride with??

is it not??

...Bradbury manitou,
Pace rc100,
Roberts white spider,
Yeti ultimate,
Seven sola,
Turner burner,
Seven axiom sg,
Salsa la raza... in the shed and not one bit of xtr, in fact only a couple bits of shimano between them all! Not a fanboy here :p

Edit: forgot the Fat Chance Ti, still no xtr though!

fanboy

I wouldn't say that...!! just having used everything else, it's just better... it works better, It's made better, brakes, gears, work better, can't explain it any other way , anyhow I don't care that much... this is just my opinion based on my experiences. never ridden a Campagnolo bike actually, not even sure they do mtb group anymore?...

M900 was just a prettier XT (OK an oversimplification but you know what I mean).

M900 was the only 8 speed group for the first couple of years, remember. M737 caught up, but that wasn't until 1994...
