Uncle Grumpy
Devout Dirtbag
Hey groovers,
Thought I should start throwing up some of the fleet. This is my 94/95 Kona Hei Hei. I purchased this as a frame in about 2007 (I think) and bought to be ridden in anger, hence the restomod flavour. It has served me well and continues to do so, such a great riding bike.
Frame: Kona Hei Hei titanium - 19"
Fork: Fox F80 RLT
Headset: Hope with Hope Head Doctor
BB: Hope external
Cranks: Middleburn 2x
Pedals: Ritchey
Wheels: Mavic 717 on XT hubs with DT Swiss double butted spokes
QR skewers: Hope
Tyres: Conti X-King 26 x 2.2 F and R
Tubes: Yep. Generic black round ones
Bars: Race Face Next carbon - 650mm
Stem: Thomson
Seatpost: Thomson
Seatpost clamp: Hope
Saddle: WTB Rocket V
Shifters: SRAM X0 twists - 9sp
Front derailleur: SRAM X9
Rear derailleur: SRAM X0 Black Box carbon cage with red bits
Cassette: SRAM of some sort - 11-32
Brake levers: Avid Black Ops Research
Brake calipers: Avid Black Ops Research
Cables: Jagwire
Chain: Some SRAM 9sp thing
Grips ODI Ruffian Lock-On
Weight is just on 11kg and rides so nicely. Climbs well, canes the single track and is well mannered when airborne.
Period correct matching jersey for cred points on the trail.
About the only things still hanging off from when I built it up in 2007 are the forks, seat and seatpost. Everything else has been changed at one point or another in time, as I'm want to do. Like all bikes that get used, the specs tend to evolve. Hell, it's too good a bike NOT to ride!
Hope you like, and if not, I don't care.
