Help With Old Raleigh Team MTB

Started my Team Raleigh collection early with a 531 Maverick in Team Panasonic made for me at Raleigh SPD, Ilkeston, in 1985. (Stolen and vandalised :x ), viewed here on the 1985 Muddy Fox Trailblazer ride on the North Downs Way.

My mate Martin wanted an MTB then but preferred the Team Raleigh Banana colours, so his 531 Maverick a couple of years later was painted thus.

Following a brief non-Raleigh period (via an Overburys' Pioneer) I got the Dyna-Tech from the Raleigh SPD (then based at Nottingham) and transferred the Campagnolo Centaur groupset onto it. I managed to obtain the Campag Electa saddle and Campag Mirox rims a few years ago via FleaBay.

Carlton,

Great to see those pics...

I used to ride Raleigh and Carlton road bikes [racers as we used to call them] when I was a kid in the Roadie Club.

Nice to see Raleigh Nottingham looking after you... those days of personal service from a big co have gone eh?

Cheers,

Chaser.

Chaser,

I agree its nice to see the old bikes we all remember.

Carlton has similar bikes to mine , still dont know of anybody with the same model though.

Be nice to know someone else out there has one.

After my Maverick GT (the better Maverick with forged dropouts and flat bars, the Maverick ATB had the Mustang frame with stamped dropouts and riser bars) was written off I wanted to buy this with the insurance money, they had one on the wall in Fleet Cycles I used to drool over, in the Raleigh range at the time is was product of the lightweight SP division. Using the same Reynolds 531 frame as the 1989 Ozark but with Suntour XCD Groupset not the Exage Mountain on the Ozark. In the end my old man forced my into getting a Holdsworth with a 23" frame  , because it was a good deal.
If I found one now I would still have one.

I was wrong the the 1989 Cajun had the Exage Trail group set and a cheaper fork the Ozark wasn't around in '89 The bike was a Thunder Road and had XCD, the team edition rep was identical in spec to the Thunder Road but in team colours. The Ozark IIRC reappeared in '90 replacing the Thunder Road and the '90 team bike high end replicas were based on this.
Wow this takes me back.

Carl.

Hmm, not wishing to hijack this thread (I believe the OP's question has been responded to already), I wondered if anyone thought Mavericks were worth anything.

In my garage right now, I have a 1980's Raleigh Maverick in a kind of off brown colour. Its near mint for its age having almost never been ridden since new. The parts arent named and its totally standard (the seat has two huge springs on it for example). It has hybrid tyres, a rear carrier, stand etc..

Is this likely to be worth doing anything with, or should I scrap it? I'll get a picture if there is a remote chance of it being worth a few quid.

Edit:

Basically this, with different decals. Since these guys on Gumtree want £40, I guess its worth bugger all... lol
