Help to identify lugged orange + white

Retro Newbie
Hi all,

Have tried to identify this frame for quite some time, bought it from a retired postman few years ago.
Fully lugged steel frame with crimping on the seat tube, have only seen this on road bikes.
Interesting design on the brake bridge also.
No stickers or serial number
Came with Suntour Xc components

thanks for looking:0

That is a very very nice fluted tubing! Columbus or Oria given the quality in the details of the frame.

Have a look at Tesag as a very short lived brand name - others did use the tubing style though

The lugs are high quality but not top end with a cast BB and seatclamp.

'Gilco' tubes would never have been 'SL' as SL tubing is butted, these would have needed to be plain gauge. PG Cyclex tubes would have been used. However butted and double butted Cyclex was used for SL/ SLX / PL/ KL etc, superseded by Nivacrom for MAX and so on.

The verdict? A very high quality but massed produced frame from the Rossin school of cool sunglasses/ cigarette/ jumper wearing frame builders.

Could it be a Cyclo-cross frame? May explain the road-style tubing with canti studs.

Lots and lots of MTB was built using 'road' tubing! Roberts, Zinn and many more.

...and if it was a cyclocross frame there would be no braze ons

bad ovlov440!! Naughty boy - has seeing retrobike taught you nothing?
