Halfords should have them, and a new set of bearings, but starting to wonder if you wouldn't be better off buying a cheap new headset, can get them with sealed bearings now for under a tenner on ebay....

Well this is the sort of advice i am willing to accept . All for making things better while I am at it. So these will be less likely to suffer water ingress and the damage that may be cause as a result? If I went down that route what would I be searching for on ebay. Sealed headrace bearing assembly 1"1/8th?

Just buy something like the one on ebay and the star fangled nut is included with it........ :mrgreen:

So the parts required to do the fix are ordered and hopefully on the way. Last night i added a couple of extras to the list and place orders for new grips (the ones on the bike are meant to be white but are looking decidedly manky), and a set of Shimano SPD pedals to match the setup i have on my trusty 1992 Kona . I know that the rear hub is in need of replacement.. but that is going to be for another pay packet :cry:
