Help please - Aluminium GT serial numbers

Cheers! Strange I'm yet to find it in a 1996 catalogue

This is likely to be a January (A) 1996 frame (6).

If it is, it doesn't match he other 1996 serial formats I have, as hey are all SY# where the # is the year, but it is possible they changed during the year, or had different models made in different places.

Interesting, someone on eBay has a 1996 GT All Terra dealer catalogue. I asked them for photos of the Pantera page, and... there was the bike! Came on black or ball-burnished

My son's alloy unknown. Maybe a Tempest, Avalanche, Aggressor, or Pantera. Presumably a '98.

Ok - I'll buy that. In the build thread it was suggested to be a '98 as that was the first year of the integrated seatpost clamp, so it was assumed to be a '98. I clearly know nothing about serial number designations. Both bikes were re-painted, so that makes ID-by-color impossible.
