Help me identify a Carlton...

Hi all.
I've had this Carlton frame for a while and have had not managed to get much information together on it. Chrome lugs, but not fully chromed. Chromovelato head tube. Unusual head badge (home made?). It was suggested this is an International, but I can't find anything similar. Any help appreciated.
Ta!

Re:

Hi, lovely frame, my money would be on early 50's Carlton Special Race model. Thanks Terry

Thanks both. The VCC stuff is invaluable. Amazing the number of options available to a prospective buyer. No truly 'off the peg' frames at all! Definitely early 50s at least then. I'll check out the frame number tomorrow...

Gorgeous frame certainly early 50s.

Possibly a Franco Italia, the set up if very similar to the Carlton massed Start of the era. Those letters on the headstock were hand cut, probably by Bob Kealing. They were also used on the Jewel model.
