Help Identifying Vintage Bianchi Road Bike

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any insight to what model and year this Bianchi could be? Frame size is 54cm, it says Campagnolo on the top of the frame. Serial number stamped on the front of the frame by the headset: 3C04735. The head badge is the old square Bianchi type. It looks as though the top half of the frame has been painted over in a lighter blue as I can see paint brush marks, but the original paint that is on the bottom of the frame is coming through in patches.

Is it a Strada? If so, is it a decent enough frame? and should I be worried that it has been painted?

Cheers,
Sam

Close up pics needed by the experts of things like the seatpost clamp area/tops of chainstays, the rear dropouts, lugs if it has them, fork crown etc

I am not a Bianchi expert but the frame you are asking about is not the same as the frame in the brochure pic. In the brochure pic the Head tube angle is shallower, the brake bolts are not recessed and the rear derailleur hanger is not part of the frame.

Hi, thanks for your reply! I’ve attached some more photos! Let me know if these are correct, if not I can always take some more.

Many thanks,
Sam

I Thought the front looked a bit short in the first pics. In the second pics (1986) it looks like the tube has a bend just behind the head lug. Nothing dangerous, but could have had a front end bump and possibly been pulled forward a bit.
It may be just a pictorial illusion, but try some sort of straight edge under the top tube by the head lug,
Keith

Hi Keith, thanks for your response. Where do you think there is a bend? Also any thoughts on model, year, specs, authenticity?
Many thanks,
Sam

Parts list of it helps:

Frame number is 3C04735
Size 54cm
ITM stem & drop bars
Campagnolo derailleurs, shifters and decal
Shimano crank set
Rino seatpost
Modolo corsa calipers & levers
Mavic speciale rims

Sam, find something you can use as a straight edge, and place it against the underside of the top tube next to the head lug.
This is the bit where we used to lie on the floor holding the front wheel, with feet on the bottom bracket, and give it a tug, This needs someone above telling you when to stop. I think someone has already done this.
Bianchi were a very large scale manufacturer over many years, cant say about age etc,. I know I tried to buy a Bianchi in 1952 when I was in Egypt.

Keith

Apologies Keith, I still don’t know what you’re talking about and what I’m trying to achieve here. You think the frame 8 bent? If so do you think it’s bent here? Picture attached

Sam, yes that looks like a lump just behind the head lug, You may be able to feel it.
Hoping its a photographic illusion,

Keith
