Thank you!
What was the difference between the M700, 800 and 1000?

Only the decals and colour.
The m800 is different. The bb sits higher and it has a sloping toptube. Cannondale called it beast of the east.

I have that very frame (see signature), I identified the year of manufacture have never been able to identify the exact model.

Re:

I have a cannondale from 1993 which appeared to not have a serial number, I found one eventually stamped onto the inside of the drive side chainstay about 2-3" up from the dropout.

Colors and component for 700 and 1000. Both got top level frames with classic geometry.
M800 got the trial frame named beast of the east with sloping top tube and a very high BB. But The SM 800 got the same color and same component than SM700

Thank you! I had another look there and actually did find it on the left seat stay (no idea how I managed to miss it before)!
The bike was manufactured in 10.92!
Rear dropout spacing of 135 mm and 20" frame size.

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate all of your help.
You are awesome.

I will hopefully try to revive the front shock over the weekend and update you.

The Mag21 forks may only need a good clean and a service with new seals, but you'll need special tools for it (at least according to the service manual).

Thanks to the service manual we've managed to fix it! Thank you!
This is how it looks after a good clean, replacement of the oil (there was very little left and it was very much done) and pumping air into it.
We've also spray painted the bridge and removed a bit of the rust from the screws:

Good work. Lovely to see an old bike with sentimental attachment having new life breathed into it.

The collective knowledge on these boards is astonishing. Glad you could access it and find wha you needed. Watch out or the retrobug will bite you!
