Help identifying a bike

My first post so hope this is in the correct place.
Please can anyone help identify this bike?
The handlebars, brake levers etc are obviously not original.
There is a serial number see photo, the bottom bracket appears to be a 68mm shell so would I be right in thinking that excludes Raleigh of this vintage?
The bike has a lugged steel frame and all in weighs about 12.5kg which I don't think too bad for a frame of this size with steel wheels, and of that the saddle probably weighs 1/2 a kilo. Plenty of aluminium Basis weigh more.
It has a Weinmann type 810 back brake, generic no name front side pull brake. It has a working Huret deraileur and gear cable guide, a 5 speed freewheel non indexed and a downtube clip on mounted Shimano shifter.
The tyres are 597x32.
Someone has badly sprayed it silver although i can see blue and maroon paint below that , maybe the maroon likely primer?
I presume this is some sort of vintage club bike but what?
It owes me £20. Is it worth saving? Or would I be better off parting it out?
I know hens teeth are more common than 597 tyres and these have life left in them.
I have almost no money for a restoration and lack the knowledge and tools for a BB and freewheel of this type and vintage.
But I do love old bikes and how they ride.

The 'DSBM' stamp on the BB shell is most likely Dodsun Bicycle and Machine Manufacturing of Taiwan. That plus the cheap parts on it make this a pretty standard consumer (rather than 'club' standard) bike of the late 70s/early 80s. So whether it's worth saving really depends on what you want to potentially do with it, I suppose. But essentially, without being too harsh, £20 is probably about right. Fine for a pub/going about town type bike if that's what you're after, but that's about it. Sorry!

No need to apologise it was kinda bought just for that purpose. To keep thieves off when shopping, pub, pootling round town after I had my 97 rockhopper stolen in January. Heartbroken
Just that I like old bikes.....and I dislike cheap new ones and therefore wondered what this was when I realised about lugged frame etc
It struck me it's a bit of a bitsa, I doubt the brakes are original, not sure about derailleur etc cos they'd not over sprayed the gear guide and lever, but pretty much everything else has been over sprayed badly.
The rockhopper has been replaced by a Trek 700 which is having a new BB next week and cranks....the cranks cos I have had surgery to both knees and they're biospace cranks originally I can't stand on the pedals to push up hill, the oval causes pain.
Any way I'll probably move the shift on this bike from down tube to bars as I think I have a left side friction thumb shift that would once been on a triple crank...least ways I hope it works.
I just didn't realise when I got the bike that the tyres made hens teeth look common.

If you’re after a Raleigh Twenty I’m having a “forced” clear out so will have 4 (or more) for sale in Bristol. They won’t be expensive, all rideable but with gears and brakes but “cosmetically challenged”…
