Help identify this Specialized 80's bike

Dirt Disciple
So I picked up this bike cheap this morning thinking it was a late 80's Specialized Rockhopper, possibly Hardrock or even Stumpjumper. Its a dark purple, has a couple of Specialized decals but no model name. The thing that is throwing me off is the cable stop attachment hanging off the seat binder. Handlebar and seat are not original. The drive train is Shimano Deore DX. Thanks for any additional information about this bike.

So a quick check, the Shimano date codes for the cranks is NC 1989... Appears it could be a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp but then it would be full XT not DX. Cable stop hanger off the seat post doesn't match anything?

So the 1989 Stumpy (magenta/green) has the cable hanger off the seatpost binder. The 1989 Stumpjumper Comp has the more traditional bridge across the seat stays... Right color for Comp... Any help is appreciated.

It's an 89 Rockhopper comp, I have one in the black/purple colourway. It also came.in yellow and blue/white. I dont think the black/purple is shown in the 88 brochure. I've also got the 89 Stumpjumper comp in the same colour and as you say that is all XT.
Thanks, when I looked at the brochure I didn't see the option for the black/purple for any model but the Stumpjumper Comp, but because of the cable stop not being on the seat stay told me it was probably a lower model. Any thanks for identifying this bike! Cheers

Any chance you might post a picture of your Rockhopper in the dark purple color? Thanks.

I have a RH, the blue white, from the same year, but it is specced with mountain lx. It has that cable hanger for the rear brake too.
