these canti's were in the old shoebox of parts from when I rebuilt a early [i thought 1988] specialized Hardrock. the original fork was trashed[bent] and so I used 1994 era components on a replacement fork, [all this was back in 94/95, I cant believe I still had these parts lol]but it retains the chainstay shimano brake that came with it.
earliest specialized catalog in the archives is 1985, but no Hardrock listed and then it jumps to 1988 and its close, however some differences ie: original cranks say sugino mp and the cranks on this frame were sugino vp2's and the original cantis were dia-compe 583's ...
these look a lot like 581's but even they are a bit different and I couldn't find any exact matches via google etc. they are marked only with a 83 stamped on both pieces and one has an additional 60 0r 09 depending one how you are holding it, lol and of course the pads look nothing like the early 80's stuff so obviously they are later
and the brake lever says wheeler on the lever and the rubber boot but I couldn't find any reference to a wheeler brake lever, so I dunno about that one...........and I only have the one, why I am not sure, my buddy had traded for this frame/parts and painted it and then hung it in his garage and after it got a little beat up, traded it to me, and I finished it out with leftover parts so my dad could ride it around his neighborhood
anyways just curious before I try to sell or trade them, so as to know what they are
