Hi, I've acquired a nice holdsworth & I was wondering if anyone could help me date it & tell me which model it could be.
It have nervex lugs throughout including the bb shell, the dropouts are agrati.
The frame number is 20940, I got this from the forks as the bb one isn't that clear.
It's on 27 1/4 ins wheels, the components are Mafac dual forge brakes and it has a nevo record rear mech.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Looking at the paint finish on the rear dropout it looks to me as if it has had a respray especially with the lack of a 531 decal. The over bracket cable guides shout '70's period.

And Agrati is more likely 50's so maybe gear cable guides are newer addition and respray? Decals seems to be of later period as well.

Yes it's defiantly had a poor respray & the decals are not period & the components are later that 50's.
The story of the bike is, I picked it up from a lady who lives locally, it was her husbands who passed away last year, he hadn't ridden it for over 15 years but was an engineer & had stored it in the loft along with the Mercian frame I am also trying to identify.

She met her husband in 1970 & the holdworth was he only form of transport so I guess he would of kept it updated, in latter year he used it for touring & the Mercian was kept for time trailing.

Any way thanks for all your help so far & other info would be gratefully received

I was going along with the typhoon sugestion until I saw this quote one the classic lightweights site
"Things get a little fuzzy in the period from 1955-60. What I do know, is that trading became difficult at Holdsworth and the range was reduced to four frames by 1960. These were Cyclone, Zephyr, Monsoon and Hurricane. The Cyclone and Hurricane both had Nervex lugs while the Monsoon and the Zephyr retained theirs from previous years. Gone during this period were the Whirlwind and Typhoon"
The frame number points towards 1956 ish, the nervex narrows it down to a Cyclone or Hurricane. I'm leaning towards the Cyclone due to the Agrati drop outs..
I'm getting some more decals along with the correct double butter 531 sticker, just need to make sure I get the correct one.
