Help ID old Brodie please?

Hi Everyone,

Can you help me out with location of where I could possible find the serial number for this Brodie? Or a model? I'm not too up on his models. This has round tubes at all ends so I'm guessing this is a Sovereign? I'm used to finding the SN on the BB shell but there is nothing here and this is the original art dept paint. And also, what years did the "art dept" decals go on?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Cannot help you, but I will say this really looks like it will provide many happy resto hours!!

Don't Sovereign's have the curved S seat-stays?
Also, did the handbuilt's get rack mounts at the dropouts?

Where's Roy at??

Re:

I think the curved seat stays was a later addition to the Sovereigns; my 94 has them but my 90 doesn't. Rack mounts on my 90 are the same as this one.

Right....couldn't remember when the S stays came in, just remembered the Sovereign was the only one to get them so hoping that could narrow down the suspects. :)

Thanks everyone. But I'm on the right track, correct? It should be on the bb shell like my others? I'm guessing it's around 90 and a Sovereign as the tubes are round, not ovallized. But I'd like the sn so I can shoot Paul some racing-funds-beer money and get the info from him.

Re:

been re-couping on the couch from a hangover today.

I once approached paul with a frame with no serial number.
he told me very sharply..............THEY ALL HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS.

I suggest you get out the paint stripper on that bb. that is what I did.
guess what? paul was right. there was a number after all.
shallow stamp and a thick coat of paint. ;)

put me down as this is a climbmax.

I'm gonna second that... my vote is for climbmax... "looks" like it's a 1" steer tube frame by the head tube... that should help narrow it down... if it's 1" it's older or a climbmax...

.

Re:

Cheers Gang. Dang, thought I'd have a definitive answer lol. Thanks Roy! Toxik says sovereign because of the lack of oval tubes. A shame sorta that Pauls models all look the same...

This is pretty thin paint and should be able to tell if it was stamped.

From the first pic Shutter, I wouldn't guess 1" ht with that stem/front end? I'll have it apart soon and confirm though. Thanks.

I'll get it stripped asap and out to the powder coater and get some decals.

Also, not sure if this makes any difference to the guessing game, but this head tube is machined, as well.
