Help - Chris King nothreadset

I’m stripping a barn find for parts and it has a nothreadset. I’ve removed the top part that covers the bearing, and can see the bearing. I was expecting the fork to drop out as it would with a normal aheadset but its held firm.

Are these just “normal” headsets - so should I just give the top of the steerer a whack to get the fork to drop out, or is there something more involved to do?

Just normal, a good whack as you said should hopefully sort it.

Cool. Don’t want to damage it as hoping to sell it to recoup some money!

The top race has a rubber o ring that holds in place, also slowly eats through the steerer tube
