Evening all,
I've just joined the forum so thought it wise to post an intro as is customary on such events. The reason I've joined is because I'm intending to build up an old-school, steel framed, 1 inch steerer, quill-stemmed mountain bike, ostensibly because I have a bit of old kit from my student days kicking around the garage, most notably a 150mm zero degree rise bontrager quill stem which cost me a student fortune in the mid-90s, and which I wish to make use of.
So.... in the absence of anything on the market that's new I'm going old. Something like a 90s kona with project 2 forks is what I'm aiming at, although most likely with a new groupset (sorry) so i can actually get where I'm going with the minimum of fuss.
Anyway, I'll have a mooch around the forum a bit more and see what's what. I might even do a build thread when I start getting bits together.
Oh and I'll have a bucketload (literally, all the bits are in a bucket in the garage) of leftover bits to sell, which might hopefully interest some of you.
Right, that's the formalities over with - off to the forums.
Phil
