headset tight after fork change why?

Any idea why my headset is tight, I just changed my forks and fitted the crownrace as usual and put the headset back together exactly how its was, my headset is a ritchey wcs and my new forks sid team. If the forks are the problem then what headset should work?????? never had this before.

have you tried loosening the stem and top cap slightly

IMHO the race on the fork may not be fully seated.

Thanks people, I tried both suggestions, striped and re-seated the fork race and now seems to smooth without play, I suspect it was the fork race but cant be sure, anyway it saved me running out and buying a CHRIS KING.

the spacers probably weigh more than the frame

LoL dude I just fitted the forks I don't want to be cutting the steerer until I'm happy with the set-up, I know it looks crap but new spacers on the way.

Good idea, still leave a bit extra.

One of the worst things - you cut forks, love the forks. New frame, forks dont fit :facepalm:
