Headset bearing help.

Re:

take it to your local bearing place somewhere on an industrial estate and they'll measure and match it. And vastly undercut the bike industry on price too

Should be a branch of Brammer near you somewhere, have you tried them?

Assuming you measured the bearing with an accurate Vernier, they are imperial designated sizes 1 3/4 and 1 5/16ths x 9/32. so nearest I can find is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B542-2RSMAX- ... Sww9xZJTuk

and this from the excellent simplybearings

IMPERIAL!?!? much crazy! I would never have thought of imperial bearings even during the late 90s.

But you win the prize!!! Checking out B542-2rs even gives me the right thickness of inner and outer race. (it was measured with a vernier, but I wouldn't call it a good one...)

Unit Of Measure = IMPERIAL
Inside Diameter = 33.338mm
Outside Diameter = 44.450mm
Inner Width = 7.144mm
Outer Width = 6.350mm

Not cheap, but it saves another old headset!!!

I'm in your debt, sir.

:D :D :D :D

No problem, glad to help. If the original had American origins, then imperial sizes are normal. Simply bearings uk give great service

Re:

Promising....

But you will need to know the chamfer angles too. I understood they are either 30 or 40 degrees.

the bearing in the Simply bearings link has the correct chamfer I believe from looking at it. head stock bearing chamfers are in the range of 30<45°
