Well, I've bought a pair of knackered MC60 Head Shock forks to see if I can muck about with them with the aim of replacing the steerer. Maybe with a made-to-measure alloy reducer pressed-in then tack-welded or bonded for good measure? Then, a 1" threaded steerer inside that. Ambitious, I know! Or just put a 1 1/8 steerer in and use it on a different project.
The part that is lodged in the crown appears to be 1 1/8. I read that the steerer is pressed-in. If I want to press it out as the premier course of action, anyone know if I should press it out from below i.e. upwards?
Or just lob the whole lot in the bin?! Any thoughts?
