Having an issue seating my crown race

Nothing special, just an old Rockwell 11" that is in my garage. I bought it for cheap since it had issues that I eventually fixed, needed the motor rewound and some bearings. Debating tearing it down over the winter and having it bead blasted and powder coated.
I'm not a machinist, But I know how to cut down and rethread a steerer tube.
