Lifted from LFGSS - I thought it needed to be on here - particularly as it sounds cracking
"Halloween Hack – From Pendle Hill through the Trough of Bowland to Lancaster. Sunday 30th October - 1pm onwards...
Info here: http://hauntedvelo.blogspot.com/2011...lancaster.html
35 miles of heavy hills and even heavier scenery, following the route taken by the Pendle Witches after their arrest in 1612. Finishing up in the same Lancaster pub where they had their last drink – The Whittle.
It goes beyond occultist idolatry, of course. (But hey, who doesn’t have a thing about witches?).
The ride sets off from the Clarion House tea room – an incredible Socialist throwback to the era when workers escaped the mills to explore the epic countryside of East Lancashire.
The ride takes in two epic climbs: Nick O’ Pendle and Trough of Bowland.
In short, it’ll be a good day out with a couple of pub stops, and an excuse to get out of town."
