Mate Im sure it is ball burnished - some of the Marin Alu bikes used to have it - supposed to be good against scratches.

yeah, definitely ball burnished, i remember reading something about how it's done in a magazine BITD.

i was wondering why bikes these days never have this finish, surely the weight weenies would love it?

One of my e-bay rules is, never buy anything that is described as 'lush'.

Yeah it is Ball Burnished, My Zaskar LE has the same finish, all I would say is that after a few years you can't tell the difference and it just looks like a polished auminium frame. Well, it looks like an aluminium frame that needs a polish anyway.

Ball burnishing is not about the cosmetic appearance, but the annealing process of the material, reducing stress and improving the longevity...fyi
