Happy Blooming Christmas. Thats the shoping done .

Seems to be a lot of hatred and self-loathing going on on this site regarding Christian traditions such as Christmas. You guys need to lighten up and examine why you embrace all this negativity.

I think it's partly an act. Past the age of 12, the default male state is that it's not cool to be into Christmas even if you are. I like the idea of it ie happy to watch movies, tv specials etc of other people enjoying Christmas, don't really feel the urge to do it myself (although will partake if invited to someone else's do). But even as a kid, I always found it anti-climatic - around 4pm on Christmas at some point during the Bond film, there was always a nagging sense of "is this it?" Spent quite a few of them alone (will be true this year as missus is away) and some of them on holiday in other countries inc a memorable for right and wrong reasons bike tour of Tunisia one year.

Done properly Christmas really should last longer than a day or two given the preparation time and expense. Make it a proper week, even two - with plenty of traditions, feasting etc to fill all that time. There is something to devoting proper time to advent, the 12 days of Christmas etc - but our modern society has deemed them unnecessary.

I'm not sure Christmas has anything to do with Christianity

Do folks worship jesus or santa?

I'm sure the coca-cola posterboy will be taking lots of credit for the goodwill of parents again this year..
