Hands up who wants a san andreas!!!!

The thing I don't like abou the San Andreas is that everyone tries to build it up like a modern dowhill beast. I don't get that. It's a 20 year old design, and while it may work fairly well today, even as some sort of all-mountain type thing, it still aint a downhill monster in my eyes...These first two pics look great... They are everything that a San Andreas was intended to be!

But this one (sorry Gibble!) I don't get the purpose of this thing. It HAS to ride like a tractor, what with the stubby stem, riser bars gone mad, and double crown fork. The bottom bracket looks to be about 17 inches off the ground, and between the period Dura Ace derailleur, annd the modern Spank stuff, this build needs an identity.

Again, I know Gibble is damn proud of his bike, and I think I've seen it built up at least 6 different ways on the board, here...so its clear he has a ball tinkering with the thing...please take these comments with a grain of salt. Pick a period for the build, but more importantly, pick a purpose, and then get to it and sell the spares on eBay to pay for it.

I've taken the liberty of color-coding the issues as I see them. :p Gibble, for putting up with my editorial, this gives you the right to say anything bad about my EWRs that you want to...

when you sit on the bike the bb drops 3 inches ...the stem is now a red hope and im kinda stuck with the seat post...(would love a use 1 to swap with) and the stickers cover the dents and scratches up.have magura brakes as the xt vs squealed like alittle piggy....as for the seatpost being too low ive now raised it so its miles away from the shock unit...h and the sqewers have moved too...the rear mech is now a mavic s.cage as seen in the first piccie........i need more cas to replace the daft bars though so i gotta stick with these till i squirrel more cash .......no mention of the green tyres?????
