Handlebar shims

For putting 25.4 bars in a 31.8 stem, anybody used one? Can they be trusted? Cheers

Trusted, yes.
Creak like a swine, probably.

Quite a few bars BITD were shimmed up to 25.4 anyway (both loose and bonded on shims). So it's not exactly a new idea.

Yep, I've used them. Acor brand which I got off fleabay. Nice quality four part shims in black ano finish ~ assemble with a lick of grease or anti-seize and they work fine and quietly.

no real problem with then but I personally do not like shims of any sort: for bars or seatposts.
these parts are pretty cheap so buy the correct size one - there are plenty of 1" bar stems around - treat yourself!!


now trying to find a 1" bar stem for 1" steerer is the real challenge.

Don't worry about using a shim, I know quite a few trials riders who ride big stuff with shims fitted and have had no problems whatsoever
