? Hampton Lightning road bike anyone?

Hi

not sure where to post this thread but have picked up an old road bike that is stickered as a Hampton Lightning. I've not heard of them before and my searches are proving fruitless at present.

I'm hoping to respray it or at least tidy it up to use but will need a new headtube badge and potentially decals for the top and down tube. It has lovely chrome fittings everywhere so want to keep it in this working order when cleaned up.

Has anyone heard of this before or know of any bikes of this name?

Sorry, don't recognise the name. May be because....

1 it's a made up name (a friend of mine stickered up his bike as a Mustang!)
2 it's from somewhere like the USA
3 it's a maker that has gone bust and dissareared without a trace, usually at the beginning of the 1950's
4 I should know about them but my brain has stopped working LOL

Ive got a friend with a Hampton Phantom.
However I'm afraid I can not tell you a thing about the company.
His ones got very Raleigh 1980 esq lugs, so I've always just assumed it's a Raleigh with different stickers on.
Next town along is called Hampton but I don't believe it's where the bike was made.
