Zaskar everyday, only frame to win both XC & DH.

just an aside, this keeps coming up from time to time, and so far nobody has ever been able to say what DH the zaskar has won. XC yep Alison Dunlop used one quite effectively in 99, but DH, I never remember anyone winning a world cup or champiionship or a NORBA either on a zaskar...
I really want to know, this bugs the hell out of me.

I've read/heard it somewhere, but never checked it. Great frame though :D

It's from GT's catalogues & website, but it does not say it was a Zaskar. What it does say is this.

Notoriety quickly led to iconic status when, shortly after its introduction, a Triple Triangle™ frame became the first (and only) bike in the world to win a mountain bike world championship in both X/C and downhill disciplines.

Knew I'd seen it somewhere, obviously been clouded over the years to become the Zaskar won both, who knows :?: :?:

I think the DH was won on an RTS, hence the ability to define both bikes as triple triangle. The RTS was also known as the 'suspension Zaskar' or similar as the three main tubes are inherently the same as a Zaskar.

Sorry to drag this one up but that's utter crap!

Google Malcolm Fearon Bliss images and see the image of Nico voullioz on a blue Zaskar in the DH at Kaprun in 1994 (quicker to pedal than his RTS!)

Sure he won that race so it was a world cup winner

Can someone, anyone clear this up, it's in the GT catalogue, as quoted above, so I'm presuming they can't just put a blatant lie in their promo material.

Help anyone

can't remember, i have the zaskar reissue add somewhere that says, but is it world championships or world cup winner? as I'm pretty sure there have been no (senior) DH champs won, but it is quite possible that a world cup has been won on one.

I think we had a whole thread on this very discussion a few years ago, and nothing got resolved.

The clue in the quote above "shortly after its introduction, a Triple Triangle™ frame" leads to a little detective work and the following link:

Juliana Furtado won the 1990 women's cross country event in Durango Colorado,

...and....

Mike King won the 1993 men's downhill event in Metabief, France

I don't know if Juli was riding for GT in '90, but the 1995 GT catalog shows Mike sporting his rainbow jersey.
