GT Zaskar Identification

Hii Folks,
currently i have been offered by some guy a GT Zaskar bike in size 18", looks like it had been redecaled with a new decal
serial number is 03921609, from what i know it was made on march 92, so it would be either Zaskar or Zasker LE 92.
also the 3d GT fork drop out looks identical with 3d fork from 92 GT catalog.
but happy to be adviced..
here attached some picts, from the picts he sent i have some concerns,
1. is it a legit GT Zaskar bike?
2. if yes, is it a Zaskar or Zaskar LE? cause in 92 they both come in Zaskar and Zaskar LE
3. had it been redecaled?
4. what kind of decals that was supposed to be applied?cutting sticker/water decal/etc.?
please kindly advice, and appreciate if you guys could help me out..

Yes it’s a 92 model year Zaskar. Not a LE.

93 saw replacement mech hangers.

LE and normal shared the same frame up into 97 , it’s simply the build kit.

Top tube decal is not original and Spec is mismatched

If you check my advert out on here for my 92 build Zaskar it will show you the spec and everything that it should be (not tyres)

I guess all decals might be replaced before, head tube decal supposed to be a white GT decal right? also the downtube Zaskar decals is not neat enough.

Is it right that zaskar's decals are cutting stickers not water decal/printed decal?

Yes, if look into 92 catalog it comes with with XT 7s Groupset while Zaskar Le comes with XTR 8s groupset..

just wondering does 92 GT Pantera Al come with different serial number format compare to zaskar?

Yes, they have a different format.

Yours won’t be a LE I don’t feel as who would downgrade the decals and some of the spec.

I think the downtube decal is original and whoever had the bike updated parts. The hubs are M910 which were 94. It’s more likely than they downgraded parts and then put a lower model decal.


Pantera was Taiwan built in a different factory.

Yeah a panter serial number will start with a letter, probably an H.
As other have said, the LE is witgh the XTR build kit and non LE is ...not that... but also remember could have been bought as a frame and built up.

Most likely thing it is an XT normal Zaskar, over time some parts have been upgraded, then they probalby bought a new frame, transfered anything good over, then later built up this with any old bits as a rider and sold off.

LE was supposedly light edition.

My own 1993 model was an le but with full XT and mag 21, it did have titanium finishing kit

Yours has the nice 3d fork but missing the stem, these are now very hard to find
