Why would someone powdercoat that grey? It looks awful in my opinion.

I'm looking for a Xizang at the mo and considered it. But the thought of stripping the powder coat, then getting it polished seems a whole lot of trouble.
Plus, why was it powder coated? To hide something nasty maybe?
Real shame as bare metal is the only way!!
