GT timberline... 92 i believe...

oooh i like.... didnt even click that its 500 exage... my normal mtb has 300 :( cheers for all the help guys.... :) not sure if it needs restoring yet tho.... its pretty clean but theres some rusty bits in places where scratches have been left unsorted....

A friend had one BITD, sturdy brute and he managed to shave a large chunk of weight just by changing that saddle, it's in the group shot in my 92 Peak thread in my signature, I have a feeling that I have a close-up photo of it somewhere too, I'll have a dig.

Hey guys... again...

ive branched out a bit now.. sold off a few raleighs in a bid to cut down on bikes... and ive gone and bought a gt timberline on a whim...

Its white with black splatter stripes... tange tubing and looks to be fairly original..

to get it riding ive had to fix someones bodge of a headset and swap out the rear tyre as the skinwall was ripped.

it rides nice, although maybe a bit small for me (will measure soon)

does anyone know the original spec? and how to tell the exact year?

Im thinking of building it up for my girlfriend as shes going all fitness minded and wants to get out on the trails with me... it looks about the right size for her :D but i cant have it being a mess of mixed parts... i want it to ride right so its easy for her to learn as other than riding to and from work she doenst do much else with her bike....

also id love to see a nice restored of orignal one to get my mojo going to go get on with it :)
I did own a 1992 GT Timberline BITD, it was my first GT. The first one I bought was the Evergreen colourway, one of the nicest GT's in the shop colour wise, at the right price point that I could afford and have spent many hours commuting and upgrading it until some nasty bugger decided to steal it, even though it was locked up!
I also owned the alternative 'Daktari White' Timberline after having lost the green one and the red Pantera AL (bought to replace the 1st Timberline), that got stolen too.
The 1992 Timberline came equipped with a mix of Shimano 400LX (derailleurs, front and rear) 300LX Biopace chainset, Exage hubs and brakes, high rise stem, Chen Sing tyres (copied of Ritchey Z max) and some other basic goodies, a comfy saddle that I kept, despite other upgrades over time. It made for a great commuter bike.
