GT timberline... 92 i believe...

tee-one

Senior Retro Guru
Hey guys... again...

ive branched out a bit now.. sold off a few raleighs in a bid to cut down on bikes... and ive gone and bought a gt timberline on a whim...

Its white with black splatter stripes... tange tubing and looks to be fairly original..

to get it riding ive had to fix someones bodge of a headset and swap out the rear tyre as the skinwall was ripped.

it rides nice, although maybe a bit small for me (will measure soon)

does anyone know the original spec? and how to tell the exact year?

Im thinking of building it up for my girlfriend as shes going all fitness minded and wants to get out on the trails with me... it looks about the right size for her :D but i cant have it being a mess of mixed parts... i want it to ride right so its easy for her to learn as other than riding to and from work she doenst do much else with her bike....

also id love to see a nice restored of orignal one to get my mojo going to go get on with it :)

Sounds like a 1992 Timberline from your description.
It's the one on the top left of this page of the 1992 catalogue.

It's listed as having a True-Temper frame-set and 500CX components which I think will be Shimano Exage 500CX.

Apart from the tyres, that looks all original. the 500CX groupset was possibly only specced for the German market from which the catalogue page above was taken.
500LX and Exage is reasonably decent kit though:
