What 6061 frame do you think it is then . . . also the year?
I was guessing at 1997. No disc mounts on the back :?:

You'll need a real expert for that, I'm just a minor GT anorak.
It looks like a post 97 - pre 2000 (from the position of downtube gusset and shape of rear dropouts). Don't think anything other than a Zaskar was 6061 in that period so suspect some git might have just stamped it on there and put the decals on. The actual 6061 stamping is quite basic on the real thing.

So its a probably an Avalanche/Pantera/Backwoods/Tempest..... I'm not sure but I suspect they all had a the same frame but with better components and different paint job. If you got as a nake frame it could be anything.

On the plus side they are practically indestructible, ride great and look fantastic !!

Not all non-Zaskar aluminum GT frames are the same, one year's Pantera for instance is the only bike other than Zaskar to have a flat end-cap, that's not seen on any other frame. Pre-Dorel aluminum Avalanche was a superior frame to Tempest, Backwoods, Ricochet etc.

Bugger. . . looks like it isn't a Zaskar frame then :(

I think if id have actually paid for it & bought it as a Zaskar, i'd have been pretty pi**ed off now. . . but hey. . . the frame cost nowt & its built into a lovely bike for not a lot of dosh. so who's complaining. Zaskar or not, wah hey. . . :D

One thing that can definitely be said is that even if it was a '97 Zaskar (as unlikely as that is) it wouldn't be an LE - that was the first year of the integrated seatclamp and machined drop-outs.

As long as it doesn't end up on eBay as a Zaskar there's no harm I guess. It'll ride well, for sure.

Perhaps i'll just find another sticker set & call it something else. . . or maybe when the time comes to sell, ill just peel the stickers off.
But for now, i'll leave it as it is. . . it looks just fine & ive no plans to get rid of it. Im just gonna ride it.

Shame i didnt consult the GT "buffs" (i thought anoraks was unkind) on here earlier, but i bow to your knowledge. . . :D
