GT LTS-9000

Selling this on behalf of a friend who's emigrated.

It's barely been used since new, still on the original (barely worn) tyres! All the moving parts are in very good condition, and cosmetically there's just a few marks which mostly look like they happened in storage. The downside of 20+ years of inactivity is it need's some TLC, new cables etc as they've dried up and stuck.

He's been told it's worth £400+, but I'm more realistic so if you want to make an offer then I'll pass it on.

I'm pretty sure this is an LTS-5000 from around 1995....I sold mine in very similar condition for less than a quarter of what your friend has been advised it's worth...it was a good cheapy allrounder

Yep that's a 5000. Acera equipped, that's only worth £400 to granniegear.
Agree it's a sub-£100 bike even though it's a full sus GT.

There was one on eBay a couple of weeks ago, was about £80 iirc.

Yup, it is indeed a 5000, not sure where I got 9000 from, must have been dreaming of XTR groupsets........

I'll pass on any sensible offers (and yes, my idea of sensible is the same as yours). He's out of the country and not planning on coming back so it just needs to be sold.
