U brake Karakoram, does anyone have one and what are the widest tyres you have fitted? I'm thinking of trying some splashbacks in a 2.1 but don't want to purchase them and find out they don't fit?

Hi mate, hope alls well with you? I've got a GT Pantera with 2.1 Tioga's which look pretty wide anyway compared to other 2.1's that I run and the U Brake on the Pantera Clears it no problem. I would expect similar geometry from both frames?

Oh, and U Brakes are great for clearing mud off the tyres lol,

Jussa :D

Doing very well thank you chap...hows you diddling?

thanks for the reply, I might give it a go, I had thought city jet 1.95's amberwall but then thought an occasional bit of mud might help enjoy the ride.

Hey if you are running the stock GT Rigid fork, you should be able to fit 2.3-ish tires on the front. Dependent on other forks though it is variable. For the rear, another rider fit 2.35 Intense DH tires on the rear of his Karakoram. Attached the picture to this post, last one. I was recently in a similar position. Wanted a bigger front tire than a 2.1 for a Rigid GT Bravado LE. Was able to fit a Kenda Blue Groove 2.35 in the front, on a GT Bologna Lite fork. This is a big tire and Kenda doesn't lie (Looking at you Maxxis, Specialized, WTB, ETC). There is also a 2.1 WTB Nanoraptor in the rear with plenty of space, haven't tried larger back there. Anyway this setup is fuunn. Can attack rougher terrain more confidently. The bike is more comfortable, the larger tire smoothing out the bumps a lot more. However it is still a Rigid of course, so can't get too unhinged.
