GT Karakoram Price point / Value request.

Hi All

We have a fellow Retrobiker in Hull who's wanting to pass on his GT Karakoram. He's not sure of the price point and as I'm not really a GT guy I thought i'd help him out and ask for your opinion.

We could also do with the year of manufacture etc

How much would this be worth in it's current condition?

That's a size someone will grow in to I think, forks are good. early PACE ones.
Wheels are later than the bike as is the black LX groupset. (wheels being later still).

I think it is a 1992 version (even with the U-brake) as pretty sure @chrisv40 had one
Price , not too much £100 to £150. Forks may fetch some money. (but I can be way out of touch on pricing, it'd give £80.)

Agreed Fluffy. Thanks for the response. I'm awaiting confirmation of the frame size from the current owner. Chrisv40 did have one, I remember it now. I like the frame but it's a bit too busy for me and I already have a 'Pub Bike' so I'm not interested personally at this point. I may advise the owner to break it and sell off the frame, forks and black LX group set and wheels seperately. I think there's £40 in the frame maybe £80 in the complete LX group set with wheels and maybe £60-£80 in the forks. He's a nice chap and it's a clean and straight bike.

I'm awaiting confirmation of the frame size from the current owner.

I'm pretty sure that's a 20", so 20" C-C and about 22.5" C-T.

Definitely worth more in parts I'm afraid.
I seem to recall someone trying to sell one recently, complete with original forks, and was still struggling to shift it for what could be deemed a good price.
It does have some nice period parts though - saddle and grips which should appeal to GT fans.
If the forks work, they should be in the £100 to £125 bracket, less if they need thirty quids worth of new elastomers and some time spent cleaning them out...

Hi all, this is my bike and I do have the original forks, the Pace forks have been stripped and cleaned and work fine I also bought a nos fork brace from here around 3 years ago for £25, the Lx headset is a nos that's done around 5 miles, I thought it would be this answer and worth more in parts so will have a good think before I do anything, thanks for the replies and to trebz for posting this.
