GT Avalanche -- name that model year!

Retro Newbie
Thanks for looking! I'm trying to prepare a GT Avalanche for sale for a friend and have little to no information on the bike (other than it was purchased from University Bicycles in Boulder, Colorado). As near as I can tell, it's vintage is somewhere between 1992 and 1995. I also don't know much about its model. The frame is 7005 aluminum and serial number SAS6A1212. The build is mid-level: other than XT rear derailleur, it's all LX -- shifters, brakes, cranks, cassette (8 speed); GT chain and handlebar; Rock Shox 21R front fork; Mavic 221 rims; Kore stem; etc.

The bike is either a Large or an XL (22" seat tube) and is in good condition.

I've read the other posts here and they weren't helpful. The only thing stamped behind the dropout is 7005.

Pictures attached. All feedback welcome! And let me know if you're interested in the bike or any parts. No reasonable offer refused.

Judging from the decals indeed 1996. Components fit that year as well.

I would fit a functioning fork (freshly serviced Judy SL, same yellow) or a nice rigid GT fork and you or you mate a ready to go.

Frame size is officially 20inch (GT-measurments; centre bottom bracket to centre toptube). This would make it 21-22inch comapard to other frames.

Thank you everyone for the help in identifying the bike! It's now on eBay at:

If that doesn't work it's item number 251279245086.

But too for the illustration of understanding be the certainty, is as far as it is clear with the author and its standing? Please be sure to clarify but thank you.
