Hi Andy B... many thanks.

I am trying to ID the year of a 16" GT Avalanche frame I have. After an extensive online search I have not found a single image of a Gold coloured Avalanche aluminium frame, regardless of year or model! I'm pretty sure my frame has the original paint and decals. I reckon it is late 90's but would like to narrow it down to the exact year so any help would be really appreciated!

Frame number stamped in to bottom bracket is S8LA03241.

Frame number is a big help

As are the pics

I'm not a GT expert, but there are plenty on the forum

If you edit your 1st post and change the title to something like "Hi & GT Avalanche frame ID help" it will get you the answers quicker

The GT Avalanche LE for '98 was available in anodised 'atomic green' and 'billet'. I'm wondering if billet was GT's name for the gold frame I have?

Looks like a 1998 to me. Not sure what GT called that gold colour but (a) its lovely and (b) the bike looks the same as the 1998.
