Grips... Or no grips!

ODI Attacks are still readily available.
Totally forgot about these, good shout! Not a bad price too... Anyone know what year these started from?
Nearly forgot about these which I haven't used so can't speak to their performance. Look great though.

still readily available direct through WTB or amazon/ebay UK
Looks like these aren't available this side of the pond... Same as velociraptor tyres too... 😠

Has anyone tried these?

Yes they’re an excellent repro!

UK shipping was seamless and not overly expensive.. I bought them long before the idiots screwed the economy so I got a better exchange rate, even taking that into account, they’re def worth it.

also.. shouldn’t the thread be called “Get a Grip”

😄

ODI Attacks were originally Tomac Attacks before he switched to ATI.
Not sure exactly but think they first appeared very late 80's early 90's.

In the early 90s I developed a huge hatred of grips that came loose on wet rides (before Lock-Ons, this was EVERY grip that I tried). So, in 93 I started using two layers of Cinelli cork road bar tape. This worked really well for me, gave enough "padding" and never came lose or moved on the bars. That is what I used on every MTB I had until Odi released the Lock-Ons and I switched my allegiance.

The comfiest for me are the Onza lock-on when it matters less. And the originals or reproductions when it needs to be period correct.

Yeti speed grips also another fav.

I’d never heard of ODIs back in the 90s 🤷🏼‍♂️

I mostly use Ritchey True WCS foam and been lucky with no deterioration over the last couple years or so, stored indoors (heated), maybe this helps. They're light, cheap, comfy and look good.

Really thinking about trying the Onza repros mentioned above though. They were my go to favorite BITD
