Greg Lemond Ti MTB (92) - Revisited page 4

The rear mech on Hilts bike is a road mech , the one with yellow stickers was the MTB version .

As Chris says my rear mech is a road one, the MTB ones are like gold dust, never seen one on the bay even.. (although I'm sure a few people on here have them..)

Here is a scan of the Mavic MTB range Melvin put in the Scan section, there's also a scan of the original MBA bike test on the lemond MTB (link below). The MBA article refers to the fact that the bikes were made by Litespeed which is my belief too.

Revisited this build recently as I managed to get hold of some Graftons (cheers Kingroon), so she's almost there, just the Seatpost to change, and maybe a litespeed Ti stem if I ever see one for sale..

Still looking mighty fine and the slow burn build should make the debut ride even sweeter.

I don't how I've not managed to see this bike until now, but that really is lovely.
The Mavic kit sets it off a treat.

I made a mental list of all the parts i'd like, and it was everything!

The decal "Tour de France" is very funny on a MTB  .
But beautifull bike and cool groupo… ;)

Made a very bold decision a while back and decided that this garage queen needed a revisit. The problem I had was that all the mavic kit was so sparkly I didn't dare thrash it so it just hung there in garage looking lovely but unloved...

I decided that it needed a make over if it was to become a rider..

First issue was the 1" headset, fortunately Litespeed built the Lemond with a shim in the headtube which was reamed out to 1 1/8 by Vernon Barker, Chris King headset fitted and then went for Manitou R7 Elite forks, 80mm travel which should be fine for this age frame. Rest of the build is going to be XTR960 but watch this space.

Expecting a few shocked faces but bikes need to be ridden and the original build with the Mavic just wasn't practical...

Stands back and awaits flaming ;)

so you disapear for a year and come back with some modern forks on a true retrobike frame ?!?!?

I regularly use my mavic kit and it works really well . The wishbone shifters are just great .
