Converted my Kona to singlespeed today. Did it on the cheap, so took off all the gear shifters/mechs etc. Found an old mech to use as a chain tensioner, and took off the big ring from my old STX chainset.

Now an lovely hack bike, complete with SKS mudguards and slick tyres.

Might set up the cassette to a single ring at some point, but that will cost money!

Haven't posted on Retrobike for ages... nice to be back

I'm a big fan of singlespeed bicycles... I have 2 singlespeed mtb's.

Just finished building up my first single speed:

The cranks and pedals aren't working for me either, although RaceFace powder coat seems really tough to remove. I'd like some Halo Twin Rail tyres with the skin walls too. Otherwise it makes a great fun cruiser and I'm really liking the simplicity.

The Soul finally finished Its riding really nice but I reckon some front bounce is on the cards.....and eventually gears

I think I read somewhere that it is against the law to have bounce on a single speed.
