Grease for Cup & Cone

Thought I'd try some new grease in my shimano hubs, so bought some Finish Line Teflon grease, the kind of off white colour in a white tube.

Well, it says bearings etc on the tube, but its mighty thin... anybody else got any experience of this stuff, or used it for a hub service?

I know what you mean. It looks thick like toothpaste in the way out the tube but by the time you have smeared it around on a part it seems to vanish. Seems to last though, I've only used it on posts, forks and bottom bracket spindles but it seems to last well.

It was designed to be compatible with (WTB) Greaseguard components, so had to be thin enough to be injected through grease ports, but thick enough to work.

It will be fine.

I have a dispenser of generic teflon grease.. it's normal grease colour and pretty thick.. stays where it's put

I use Silkolene Pro RG2 for anything that needs grease. Been using it now for a few years and have never been disappointed with it.

Second that! ;)

I bought a tub of bullshot ( think that's what it's called ) about 10 years ago because the owner of the local shop said to get the tub instead of the tube " it'll last longer " it fookin has , I still have about 3/4 of the tub left  A while ago I spotted some on ebay go for a few quid ( who buys 2nd hand grease ? ) and will be very sad when it does eventually run out .

What's wrong with original Shimano grease?

Swear by it - even on my Campag hubs.

Nothing, I'm sure it's just as slippy as the rest of em. I don't strip and rebuild new shimano hubs when I get them!!!
