Gravel bike packing, its all done wrong IMO

Exactly how I use mine. Usually 40 -50 mile gravel rides from home.

Have you tried normal road bars rather than flared ones?
Yeah, started with them but found them too narrow. Then the next set had too much reach where as the current ones flare too much. All of them give me pain between my shoulders that I don't get with flats.

On road I run 42cm bars but on the gravel I run 46cm. Also I’ve angled the hoods slightly inwards and run a shorter stem than a road set up. It might be worth a shot.

Problem with flats would be I'd need new brakes and shifter, maybe rear mech too. Thought about it but would just buy something else tbh.

My take is that it's simpler to pack as many decent sized pannier bags as you need for a trip. I also have a collection of small frame bag, large saddle pack and medium handlebar bag, and I just can't imagine fitting everything I need for a 4 day adventure in those.

I used the handlebar bag and a backpack on a 2 day MTB adventure, packing very minimal gear. I didn't want a saddle bag getting in the way of the dropper post and the frame bag didn't fit this particular frame well enough.
