graunchy headshok

Hi folks, my cannondale f1000 has developed what i can only describe as graunchyness in the headshok, its holding air perfectly but feels dreadfull.
Does anyone know much about these, or recommend someone to give it a service? Ill have a go at most things but i dont fancy needle bearings all over the kitchen table.

A serice would probably be the best bet but you could try letting all the air out, cutting the top zip tie and having a look underneath. Sometimes giving the exposed surfaces a wipe helps, you can also put some lube in there. I've found that if you have the bike upsidedown you can dribble something like a winter chainlube in there while compressing the deflated fork through their suspension cycle a few times.
Although it's not really a service it will lube up the neddle nearings if they're just a little dry.

Re:

There are threads on here about Headshoks if you do a search.

Why did you have to use a piece of inner-tube for a boot?
And chain-lube isn't the best to use as lube for the needle-bearings, grease is what's needed, not too thick and not too thin. Too thick and it will be pushed to ends of bearings and stay there, too thin and it will drain downwards out of bearings. Most chain-lube is much too thin.

Mine was feeling a bit notchy. I couldnt get them apart so slapped some grease, cycled them to get it to the needle bearings and feels fine now.
