Goodbye Capello! Hello ******!

Just seemed that you were somewhat dismissive of one of the basic safeguards, indeed the entire foundation, of our legal system.

"someone's right to be considered innocent, blah, blah."

And you did say it, which I found surprising. That's all.

I vote Terry Venables. (although it will never happen)

His team was the most exciting and made me proud to be English.

Everything since has been a shambles.

Rednapp is a crook......stuart pearce for me.....they are all on a hiding to nothing though, im as patriotic as they get but our team is woefully less than the sum of its parts......i agree we remain a generation away from well earned success....

Dude,

I am totally behind the reasoning that Cap used.

If this was someone being sacked from a job because of unsubstantiated allegations, one that they had gained thanks to merit and were in a contract to fulfil...

However, it is a totem, and the greater good is served better by minimising the impact of court action on the impending competition. That has no reflection on any assumed outcome, it is pure pragmatism.

I was recently accused of racism, and had to rake myself over the coals to get these accusations withdrawn. I faced stonewalling from the police and had to employ every last resource I have to sort it out.

Luckily for me I have very good advice.

I am sure Terry has too, and I am certain if he is indeed innocent he will be presented well enough to get a result.

The argument that he was repeating an accusation is brilliant.

Someone with a personality ans some passion!

Stuart Pearce definitely fits the bill, but an outside bet would be Ian Holloway. Thinks a bit differently, has the respect of his players and very engaging - maybe a bit early for him, but the post-match interviews would be entertaining and the foreign journos would need a different type of interpreter! We've had a string of managers (Venables excepted, but he does remind me of a pub singer!) with little more personality than our prime ministers. It's been a bit embarrassing TBH - Steve McLaren FFS - what was that all about!!

In fact, I'm going to start a new thread - best England manager that never was - will anyone come up with a name more nailed on than Brian Clough!?

As for John Terry - thick, rascist chav and should be dropped permanently, never mind stripped of the captaincy! Not the greatest ambassador really!

Capello was right, the FA were wrong, Terry's a cart horse tosser.

Harry Redknapp is first choice because he's the only choice. With the nation clamouring for an English manager and only two of your top 10 teams having one, Harry's one big trophy success in a lifetime of management is marginally better than Pardew's none. You're not exactly blessed with managers of high achievement.

At least up here we know we're shit. You lot have delusions of grandeur.

Given that English teams best managers are always Scottish is there a case for a Scot to be given the job at some stage?

Perhaps Gordon Brown can avail himself yet again for the English people?
The theory doesn't transfer well to politics. Brown and (sort of) Blair. *shudder*
