hi, looking into tyres an theres to many lol, need something that can cope with most surfaces but as winters coming mainly wet gravel, slate/ mud to.

Schwalbe Nobby Nics are my all round tyre. Ran them all summer and winter.

Moors, dales, peaks, east Yorks, and the local trail centres have all been fine.

They're what used to be Racing Ralph iirc. More a fast dry weather tyre. The Nics are the muddier/general purpose tyre.

On-One / Planet-X often have good prices on Schwalbe tyres.

If it's really muddy it still works (at least for me) but no doubt 'mud' tyres will work better, but thyy drag a lot more in other conditions.

Second the Nobby Nics. On my second pair now but went up a size to 2.4 this time. Stick well in most conditions.

My go to tyre is still the Panaracer FireXCpro. It is pretty much the best all rounder out there for year round use. I've got the 1.8 and the 2.1 and they are both good, the 1.8 surprisingly so for a skinny tyre.

Avoid Ritchey Max Evolution as I bought a pair on a recommendation from an LBS last year and they are utterly useless. Look like they should be great but slither like nobodies business in mud.

I have Conti King 2's on my Kona for full off road use. They are awesome. Only ever "moment" was on a side of rockface, but I think any tyre would have slipped. I also have Kenda Nevegal's on my Ms Isle. These are great all round. Even on tarmac! Hope that helps.
