gone gone gone

Re:

Here's a thought!.......
Not sure if anyone else would be up for this but here goes!

This bike is every man and woman's dream that has ever ridden a retro bike and seen JMC on Dirt!
How about a raffle? The first 100 people interested buys a £50 raffle ticket or 200 people and £25 ticket. For people strapped of cash til payday the tickets have to be purchased by 1st August but first come first served with dibs on tickets. Anyone that has not paid by midnight 1st august has their ticket offered on to the next person in the queue!
The person collecting money would have to be trustworthy with all that money sat in their account. Maybe we could get John involved.
The beauty of this idea is that the bike stays within the family and one lucky person gets this AMAZING piece of mountain bike history for the price of a second hand pair of a Rock Shox!
Obviously as this is my idea I get first dibs on a ticket but I'm happy to pay £50 for this chance!

What do you guys think?

It's a good idea in principle, but if there was to be only one winner at the end who would then go on to own the bike outright, it might cause a bit of discontent among some of the others who'd effectively lost £25/£50..

Personally, I'd be happy enough to pay (and potentially lose) £25, but £50 might be a bit difficult to stomach if I didn't get anything in return!

When this bike originally came up again on eBay, there were talks of a group purchase where everyone who pitched in would effectively have shared ownership. That would cause it's own problems however.

I should say that I think it's worth every single penny of the asking price. I'd buy it outright if I could.

Re: JMC Specialized S-Works FSR Team race bike 1994/95

I think if we could get 200 people to pay £25 it would be a lot easier to stomach but the more people the less chance of winning. I'm sure there are lots of creases that need ironing out in this idea but I just thought it was a way to keep it in the family and give every member a chance to own it. Not just the super rich members.

Re:

Some great ideas here guys, I am very open to the idea of a raffle or somebody contacting peaty!
I supposed £50 in the grand scheme of things is nothing when it could bag you this machine! Heck what does £50 buy you these days??

Re: JMC Specialized S-Works FSR Team race bike 1994/95

That was my thought but nobody is nibbling at the bate! Maybe you should put a post up in the chat section about the raffle and see how many people would genuinely be interested. The problem with the for sale section is if you're not actively looking for what is listed, you often don't open the post.

Re:

That's true, I am open to offers and will reduce the price to make sure that it goes to a good home, i.e on here. This would also reduce the amount of people needed to enter the raffle thus making the odds of winning much better!

Re: JMC Specialized S-Works FSR Team race bike 1994/95

more than happy to buy a raffle ticket or 2...... ;)

i was out at 2k on ebay so couldnt stretch to 5k even now :(

awesome bike, awesome rider, just feckin awesome!!!!

Re:

Ok I will have a think over the weekend regards the raffle and will contact john to get his approval and suggestions. If anyone is good with social media who could put the word out there that would be helpful too.
I think that a tiered prize structure would be cool, so 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize type thing as I have some helmets and other stuff of JMC'c that I have collected over the years.
